Racism

 

1.Why did the author think the U of Chicago test revealed that he was racist?  Is he right? 

2.Do these tests measure “unconscious” racism?  Why do you think so?

3.Why does the author think that sexism may be harder to fight than racism?  What research suggests this?

4.Paraphrase this quote: The challenge for women competing in politics or business is less misogyny than unconscious sexism: Americans don’t hate women, but they do frequently stereotype them as warm and friendly, creating a mismatch with the stereotype we hold of leaders as tough and strong.

  1. No, each person’s mind works a different way. To test a way of thinking like racism is nearly impossible with one standardized test on the internet. I don’t think the tests reflect your true beliefs very well

 

  1. No because they don’t really have a good test to reflect personal beliefs

 

  1. Because women are the weaker sex, so we associate women with weaker things. Other races however aren’t associate with strengths and weaknesses

 

  1. It is harder for women to be political leaders because they are viewed as weak.

 

  1. I think that sexism will outlast racism absolutely. Women, whether we like it or not, will be stereotyped as weaker in most situations.

 

  1. The author thinks that it can be confronted with better attitude toward women. I really don’t see America making any strides in this direction however.
